Special reports Confucius Institute in FENU celebrates its 2nd birthday

During the two years of operation the Confucius Institute of FENU became a pride of Primorsky region and Russia. Ministry of Education of China considered it one of the best Confucius Institutes in the world during the Worldwide Congress of Representatives of Confucius Institutes in Beijing, December 2008. There are 249 Confucius Institutes established in 78 countries.

Social life Winter swimming race took place in Vladivostok

On January 7 the active members of the club “Morzh” (Walrus) who are fond winter swimming organized a tournament. In the end of December they opened the swimming season.

Special reports New traffic passage operating in Vladivostok

December 24th, the grand opening of the road traffic passage in the upper area of funicular took place. Sergei Darkin, the governor of primorsky region, Igor Pushkarev, the mayor of Vladivostok and Viktor Grebnev, the director general of the Pacific Ocean bridge construction corporation took part in the ceremony of cutting the ribbon.

Crime watch Pickpockets and thieves are in the streets of Vladivostok

On the New Years Eve the amount of robberies and other crimes committed in Vladivostok is irrupting. This is a period of parties when people return home relaxed and sometimes tipsy which makes them easy to rob. Such crimes are the most difficult to solve because many victims don’t immediately call the police and sometimes can’t recall the face of the robbers. There are already two cases of robbery registered in Vladivostok. Because of it police officers patrol streets of the city where people are often robbed

Environment Ecological threat

1.5 tons of pesticides over the expiration date for agricultural purposes were found in Novosysoyevka village. Primorsky Department of Russian Agricultural Inspectorate informed that the finding is dangerous for ecology and health.

Last Saturday and Sunday there have been mass disorders in Vladivostok, caused by the governmental decision to increase import duties on used cars. Rallies were broken up by force. People expressed their disagreement with the governmental moves by making sudden traffic jams on the roads. These days police, detention homes and city executives worked till night

Social life Dreams of children and adults came true

December 23rd, in the suburbs of Vladivostok was opened specialized medical rehabilitation center for children with oncogematological pathologies. Children, their parents, doctors and sponsors have been waiting for it for four years. This day officials, medics and representatives of non-government organizations came to see the grand opening of the center.
